Country codes adjusted: traveling within Europe is almost impossible …

Those who want to travel within Europe can only go to eight ‘green’ countries. And not even everywhere. Only in Liechtenstein, a dwarf state in the middle of Europe, you can walk around more or less undisturbed. In France there is only one department, Creuse, a green zone.

The FPS Foreign Affairs has adapted the list of country codes again. Traveling outside of Europe is still not possible, unless it concerns essential travel. Within Europe, the choice is also limited for those who absolutely want to go on holiday again this year.

In addition to Liechtenstein, the green zone also includes France, Italy, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland. But in all those countries there are also restrictions. In France, for example, only one department, Creuse, is colored green.

Travel is possible in most other European countries, subject to strict conditions and a corona test and / or quarantine (code orange). This includes a number of regions in the Netherlands, Norway, Germany and the United Kingdom.

Travel is not possible or not allowed to Andorra, Denmark, Finland, most of France, Hungary, large parts of Croatia, Monaco, the provinces of North and South Holland (Netherlands), parts of Austria, Romania, Spain (except of the Canary Islands), the Czech Republic (the regions of Prague, Central Bohemia, South West, North East, South East, North West England (United Kingdom) and the Swiss cantons of Freiburg and Vaud, all coded red.

Are you returning from a European country?

A mandatory quarantine and test upon return to our country applies to all countries outside the EU and the Schengen zone.

Also for those who come from Andorra, large parts of France, Croatia, Budapest (Hungary), Monaco, North and South Holland (the Netherlands),….

Quarantine and a test are recommended but not required when you return from Bulgaria, Denmark, parts of Germany and France, Greece, parts of the Netherlands and Italy and the Vatican City, among others.
