Berlin.In order to speed up the planning and approval processes for important infrastructure projects, the federal states are demanding more money from the federal government for personnel and the leasing of federal employees. This emerges from the minutes of a conference of heads of state and senate, which is available to the editorial network Germany (RND).

“Professional project management must become the standard for fast processes. Both sufficient staffing of the authorities with qualified specialists and the courts as well as increased cooperation between the federal and state governments when recruiting and training and further education of specialists in the authorities are essential for the acceleration of planning and approval procedures Suggested wording by the federal states for a “Pact to accelerate planning and approval procedures” that has yet to be concluded.
“The federal government is supporting the federal states accordingly in building up the personnel capacities required for acceleration in the approval authorities, both financially and by providing personnel,” the proposed wording goes on to say.

The pact to speed up planning and approval procedures was also the subject of deliberations at the closed conference of the federal cabinet at Schloss Meseberg this week. This pact is to be decided at a prime ministerial conference in early June.
