Even before the war, many countries relaxed entry and visa requirements for citizens. As you know, since 2017, Ukrainians with biometric passports could stay in the Schengen countries for 90 days with biometric passports and 180 days without a visa. Now such a stay in the event of a continuation of the war can be extended for another year. In general, staying in the EU can take up to 3 years.
To date, the countries allowing without a passport are as follows:
Hungary accepts all citizens of Ukraine fleeing the war without a biometric passport or other travel documents – after an individual assessment of other identity documents.
Ireland announced the abolition of the visa regime for Ukrainians on February 25, 2020. Those Ukrainians who arrive in Ireland will have 90 days after crossing the border to settle their status.
Citizens of Ukraine are allowed into Moldova without a passport, with an internal identity card.
Poland allows entry to any citizen of Ukraine without a passport. It has been officially announced that nine reception points for Ukrainians with food, medical care and full information support have been opened along the border between Poland and Ukraine.
Today Ukrainians can enter Romania with a biometric or simple passport. Asylum applicants may enter the country with another form of identification, including a national identity card, birth certificates.
Ministry of the Interior Slovakia announced that all citizens of Ukraine would be allowed to enter the country – even those who do not have valid travel documents after an individual assessment. All refugees are allowed to stay in Slovakia for 90 days.
Great Britain significantly relaxed visa rules against the backdrop of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. First of all, this applies to Ukrainians who have relatives in the UK – Ukrainians who are members of the families of British citizens can apply for a family migration visa for free. But those who have no relatives in the country will still not be allowed into the country.
