Counterfeiting of COVID certificates: first verdicts passed in Ukraine

Zhovkivskyi district court of Lviv region issued immediately the first two sentences in Ukraine for certificate forgery on vaccination against COVID-19. Both violators were sentenced to 850 UAH fine.

It is reported by Zaxid.net. It is noted that a resident of the Ivano-Frankivsk region and a woman from Khmelnytsky forged documents and used them when trying to cross the border with Poland.

In particular, a man named Anatoly Ivantsyuk found a Pfizer vaccination form on the Internet with the details of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Clinical Hospital. The intruder downloaded it to a computer, entered his and his son’s data there using a special program, after which he forged the doctor’s signature.

When the men tried to cross the border into Poland at the checkpoint “Rava-Russkaya – Grebennoye”, the border guards realized that the document was fake. Ivantsyuk was detained for forging documents.

Another similar case of falsification of a vaccination certificate concerned Alena Mikhalyuk, an employee of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union filling station in Khmelnytsky, who also downloaded a Pfizer vaccination certificate from the Internet with the details of the Miramed medical institution. She put her details there and forged the doctor’s signature. The woman was also detained while trying to cross the border.

Both citizens have the right to appeal against the court decision.

Note, according to cyberspecialists, forgery of the COVID certificate and the seals on it faces about three years of restriction of freedom. In the event of a repeated such offense, a person can go to jail for five years. Whereas the owners of fake vaccination documents in Ukraine are punished with a fine of 850 hryvnia or two years in prison. However, in these cases the court decided to limit itself to the latter, despite the fact that the fakes were made by the violators themselves.

If a physician is caught entering false data on vaccination against coronavirus into the electronic system of the Ministry of Health, he can receive a 17,000 fine or two years of correctional labor for this.

Recall that since the beginning of 2021 in Ukraine 350 criminal proceedings were opened for counterfeiting COVID documents. We are talking about PCR tests, international certificates and certificates of vaccination against coronavirus. Such actions are punishable by imprisonment for up to five years. Responsibility is provided for those who use forged documents.

Ministry of Health demands to suspend doctors from workwho may have been involved in issuing fake COVID vaccination certificates. The corresponding written orders were received by the heads of 15 medical institutions in Ukraine. The doctors indicated in the document cannot continue their professional activities until the completion of the criminal proceedings.

Observe offers to buy fake certificates can be found in Telegram channels, at DarkNet. They sell, among other things, Ukrainian-style certificates. The cost of such services ranges from $ 100 to $ 160.
