Counterfeit oil is sold to Ukrainians: officials told how to choose

In Ukraine, counterfeit oil is considered to be a product that does not comply with the standards specified in Gosstandart 4339: 2005. At the same time, products that are made exclusively from cow’s milk and products of its processing can be called “butter”.

This is reported by the State Consumer Service on its official page in Facebook… “There is a classification of types of oil depending on the mass fraction of fat. Accordingly, the names also differ,” the message says. So:

  • Extra butter – fat mass fraction from 80.0% to 85.0%;

  • Peasant butter – from 72.5% to 79.9%;

  • Sandwich butter – from 61.5% to 72.4%.

Also, butter, depending on technological features and organoleptic characteristics, is divided into types:

  • sweet cream (produced from pasteurized natural cream) and salted sweet cream (produced with the addition of table salt, no more than 1.0%);

  • sour cream (produced from pasteurized cream fermented with pure cultures of lactic acid bacteria) and salted sour cream (produced with the addition of sodium chloride, no more than 1.0%).

“According to this classification, butter is a product made from cow’s milk and / or its processed products,” the message says.

As previously wrote OBOZREVATEL, The State Consumer Service announced that the cookies that were supplied to ATB-Market and Forward-KD, added palm oil with 3-monochloro-1,2-propanediol (3-MCPD) (a substance that does not meet food safety standards).
