Ukraine, which has launched a massive counterattack against Russia, is increasing its reclaimed territory.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a late night video speech on the 12th (local time), “From September to today, our fighters have cleared more than 6,000 square kilometers in southern and eastern Ukraine.
According to President Zelensky’s remarks, the reclaimed area from Ukraine to Russia is 10 times larger than Seoul (605 km2).

Ukrainian forces have liberated 20 Russian settlements in the past 24 hours alone, according to the Associated Press.

A US military official told reporters on the same day that he “appreciates that Ukraine is making overall progress in the battle to liberate and reclaim its southern and eastern territories.”

In a video filmed and released by the Ukrainian army, Ukrainian soldiers hoist a Ukrainian flag on a collapsed building in the recovery area.
Ukrainian soldiers were also seen washing their boots with a fallen Russian flag, the Associated Press reported.
