Counter Giro555 campaign passes 10 million euros, mostly citizens donate money

Giro555 has so far raised more than 10 million euros for victims in the Middle East. At the start of the national day of action early in the morning, the counter was still at nearly 4.4 million euros. Citizens especially donate money to this campaign.

“The business community and other groups are doing much less activity this time for Giro555 than for other editions,” the group writes in an interim statement. There is no possible explanation for the interim this separation is given.

There are fewer Dutch celebrities on the call panel than in previous events and no artists are performing. A number of commercial radio stations are also not participating in the day of action.

A distribution key is generated for the currency. Executive chairman Harm Goossens of Giro555 says that most of the money goes to Lebanon and Gaza. But, for example, money also goes to help Israelis who were harassed by the terrorist act of Hamas on October 7 last year.

Last year was the national day of action. Then money was raised for the victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. That action delivered more than 128 million euros.
