Asturias he has reason to hope. The Principality is one of the communities least affected by the coronavirus pandemic in Spain. As of April 29, 273 people have died in the community because of this disease. Oviedo and Gijón are the councils in which COVID-19 has caused the most damage, while at the other extreme are the 18 councils in which no case has been diagnosed.
These are data reflected in the analysis carried out by the Epidemiological Service of the Principality, which indicates that these municipalities that keep the coronavirus at bay are the following: Caravia, Degaña, Grandas de Salime, Illano, Peñamellera Baja, Pesoz, Proaza, Riosa, San Tirso de Abres, San Martín de Oscos, Santa Eulalia de Oscos, Santo Adriano, Sobrescobio, Soto del Barco, Taramundi Villanueva de Oscos, Villayón and Yernes and Tameza.
Oviedo and Gijón, at the head of Asturias
With data obtained from confirmed cases up to April 24, Oviedo continues to lead the number of coronavirus cases in Asturias with 656 positives, which gives a cumulative rate of 298.6 per hundred thousand inhabitants. One step below is Gijón as the second municipality with more positives diagnosed, 545, although its rate is very far from the capital with 200.5 per hundred thousand inhabitants, while Siero is the third Asturian council with 176 and a rate of 340.6.
Below are Aviles, with 156 cases and a cumulative rate of 199.5; Castrillón, with 103 and a rate of 460.3, and Langreo with 96 and a cumulative rate of 243.5 positives for coronavirus per 100,000 inhabitants. By councils, the highest cumulative incidence rates affect the council of Pravia (875.1), with 71 cases, and Degree (848.3), with 83, figures higher than the rest of councils motivated by the outbreaks detected in nursing homes, according to the agency EFE.
