The second day of the formalization hearing against the mayor of Rancagua, Juan Ramón Godoy, resulted in the Guarantee Court and Oral Criminal Court issuing the preventive detention measure, as well as the businessmen Diego Barba and Carlos Rodríguez.
Faced with this measure dictated by the Court, the four councilors who stood firm due to the accusations of their lawyers, celebrated at the end of the hearing, which allowed them to face the decision of Judge Loreto Salas, Emerson Avendaño, Hugo Guzmán, Maricarmen Orueta and Valentina Cáceres, will hug each other inside the court.
Outside the judicial building, the quartet of councilors agree to continue working for the well-being of the residents of Rancagua, the first consulted being Valentina Cáceres, who sent a message to the neighbors, to “stay calm, those who passed by moments of stress, when they lacked inputs in the Cesfam, such as in education” and that now they have the process of getting up and working as a team.
“This is not going to be an easy path, now comes the assumption of an emergency communal government, where we have to audit, organize and work, to get up from these acts of such great corruption (…),” said Cáceres.
For her part, Maricarmen Orueta, pointed out that administrative continuity in the municipality will continue to function, and that all councilors will join in so that “this process until December 6 we can lift Rancagua in the best way.”
Orueta announced that the Municipality Administrator, Cristian Pavez, remains mayor, pending the meeting of councilors to determine who will take over as mayor, until December 6.
Likewise, councilor Hugo Guzmán Millán said that the feeling they feel at this moment is one of satisfaction, for the duty fulfilled, although he assured that “we are not happy or happy, but rather satisfied,” because justice is beginning to be done and that as long as they remain in the Municipal Council and in the political world, they will always ensure probity and transparency in the commune of Rancagua.
