(ANSA) – ROME, OCTOBER 22 – The Roma Capitale Bici Plan, which will be presented in the coming weeks, provides for around 850 km of cycle paths for the city, including those removed from the Pnrr financing. This was announced in the Pnrr commission by the Rome Capital Mobility councilor Eugenio Patanè. The president of the commission Giovanni Caudo recalled that initially there were 15 cycle paths to be created thanks to the Recovery funds; However, 6 were removed from the Pnrr ‘basket’, for a total of around 6 million euros: these are the Vitinia-Biomedical Campus, Castro Pretorio-Termini, Via Monti Pietralata-Tiburtina Station, Piazza Pio XI-Circonvallazione Gianicolense, the Terminal Eur Laurentina-via Gradi and that of viale dei Romanisti. But for these tracks, Patanè stated, “we have the planning: for us they came out of the Pnrr but not from the will to create them. Soon there will be the presentation of the Bici Plan, I hope by November, where it will be seen that these tracks are widely part of the network that we want to create. They came out of the Pnrr because we had 13 million Pnrr which is the part that was distributed to us by the ministry. The councilor explained that a cycle path with travertine curbs, well structured and with all safety equipment costs around 700 thousand euros per km. “If you divide the 13 million by 94 km you realize that we are right at the limit of a sustainable cost per km. For this reason we had to make financing choices for the Pnrr. Having said this, we are not stopping – concluded Patanè – The Bici Plan arrives about 850km of cycle paths in the city. More than just these six: we will make many, many more”. (HANDLE).
