At a meeting of the Superior Council of the Professional Division of the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF), the competition calendar for the 2021 season, the championship system, prizes and television rights for the coming years will be approved.
With the participation of the delegates of the 14 professional clubs and, on this occasion, the directors of the finalists of the Copa Simón Bolívar Independiente de Sucre and Real Tomayapo de Tarija, will be listeners without the option of “voice or vote”.
On the agenda is the approval of the start date of the Apertura 2021 tournament, the championship system, regulations, prizes and the sale of television rights.
“It must be negotiated with the television company Sport TV Rights, because it owes a number of games (Clausura tournament) that have not been played due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Rolando Aramayo, member of the Executive Committee of the FBF .
The governing body of national football and the television company terminate the contract this month, but the second or third week of January begins another championship, but it has not yet been defined which company will broadcast the matches.
“We have to count yes or yes with television rights because there are clubs that do not have money and that income will help the entities have a piggy bank,” said the manager.
In July of this year, the FBF carried out the tender for the sale of television rights, but the recess due to the pandemic and the institutional crisis that was generated after the death of César Salinas generated observations from the six clubs (Wilstermann, Bolívar, Oriente Petrolero, Blooming, Royal Pari and Guabirá) and the constitutional ruling of Santa Cruz.
“The tender is valid and legal, the only thing that is observed by the ruling is the opening of envelopes and qualification. That must be seen legally how to proceed, “said Aramayo.
For its part, the leadership of the Wilstermann club assured that Sport TV Rights “has not yet made the disbursement of resources after the resumption of the championship” and they expect that money to fulfill the obligations that the entity has.
“The next tournament will start in a few more weeks, but we don’t know what will happen with the issue of rights. It will be important to address the issue in today’s Council, ”he said.
The meeting of the Professional Division will be today in a central hotel in the city of La Paz from 2:00 p.m.
For this occasion, the full Executive Committee will be present, which will allow the Council to have legality and legitimacy.
