The Fiat 500X was introduced to the world back in 2014, so hopefully we can expect a successor soon.
It will probably arrive with a new name: Fiat 600. Of course, the designation follows the small car from the 1950s and 1960s. The car should share the technology with the Jeep Avenger, so it will use the concern’s CMP platform, and in the case of the electric version, the eCMP.
The question is how the manufacturer will approach the offer of powertrains. We can most likely expect a purely electric version of the 600e, but it cannot be ruled out that in some markets Fiat will sell a version with an internal combustion engine – most likely with a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder.
In the case of the electric variant, the latest generation of the 400V drive system, which is used by the aforementioned Jeep Avenger, certainly comes into consideration. It combines a new electric motor with a power of 115 kW and a torque of 260 Nm and a new battery with a capacity of 54 kWh. According to the Stellantis concern, the battery boasts a high energy density and has been tested for up to 2 million kilometers. In the case of a small Jeep, the range should reach up to 400 km, even up to 550 km in the city. The Avenger supports DC fast charging at up to 100 kW.
The successor to the Fiat 500X was recently caught testing, of course, covered in camouflage. However, the shapes clearly indicate that it will again be a small crossover.
The images of the camouflaged prototypes were used by a well-known digital artist and designer Lars Sältzer, who comes up with his own vision of what the Fiat 600 could look like. He focused on the electric version of the 600e.
In the design, he works with design elements from the smaller electric Fiat 500e, to which the front headlights refer in particular, but the front mask and the design of the rear parts are also similar.
We will probably find out how well Lars got the look of the upcoming Fiat 600e this year, some sources are talking about a premiere in the summer.
