Could the Aurora Natural Phenomenon Occur in Indonesia?

Apart from one princess beautiful in the movie Sleeping Beauty, the aurora is also a very beautiful natural phenomenon. The dance of several spectrums of light among the stars of the night sky, is certainly a natural phenomenon that is very stunning and spoils the human eye.

Aurora is one of the amazing natural phenomena and not many Indonesians have seen it in person. This is caused by the natural phenomenon of the aurora which cannot occur in Indonesia. Why not in Indonesia? The reason for this natural phenomenon is that the aurora cannot occur in Indonesia.

The aurora phenomenon itself originates from the largest star in the Milky Way galaxy, namely the sun. The sun, which is basically a clump of a star that has a fiery surface that never goes out, experiences bursts of fire every now and then. The explosion emitted light particles in the billions at a speed of 800 kilometers per second in all directions.

Particles that lead to Earth are then received by Earth’s atmosphere and accumulate in the fourth layer of Earth’s atmosphere, namely the thermosphere or Ionosphere. The ionosphere is the layer of the atmosphere where the ionization of particles occurs which causes the addition or reduction of electrons to the particles. This is a reaction that cannot be seen by the direct eye, but the reaction of the addition and removal of electrons in the particles will produce light with various color spectrums that can be seen by the naked eye. This light is what we know as Aurora. The ionosphere layer itself surrounds the entire earth, then why is there no Aurora phenomenon in Indonesia?

Light particles from the sun towards the Earth are absorbed by the Earth’s magnetic field and accumulate in the magnetic field. So that all the reactions that have been described will only occur in the region of the Earth’s magnetic field. The Earth’s magnetic field is only located at the north and south poles of the Earth.

Indonesia itself is located on the equator or in the middle of the two poles. This is what makes the Aurora phenomenon impossible to occur in Indonesia. If we want to see the beauty of Aurora, we must visit areas close to the Earth’s poles, such as Greenland, Russia, and Norway.
