Of the eight diseases mentioned above, they have almost similar symptoms, causing itchy throat and attacking the lungs. No wonder you find people around you who have cough symptoms. Apart from the factor of climate change, the main cause of its spread is the air contaminated with pathogenic bacteria.
It is important to remember that the quality of the air we breathe every day has a major impact on our health. From the Covid-19 pandemic we can learn that air plays an important role in life, but air can also carry viruses, bacteria and other microorganisms that are invisible to the eye. Therefore, it is mandatory for us to maintain and change the way of life for the better.
In this article, Medcom.id has summarized some of the individual precautions recommended by Dr. Cahyarini, Sp.MK (K), dr. Jaka Pradipta, Sp.P, and Wibawa Jati Kusuma, Chief Commercial Operations of Signify Indonesia in their explanation of October 25, 2022:
1. Avoid close contact with patients showing symptoms
If there are people experiencing symptoms such as cough or runny nose, it means that it can be concluded that that person is not fit and in shape. We really need to do infectious disease prevention by keeping our distance from these patients.
2. Wear a mask
Dr Jaka Pradipta, Sp.P, said that, as a pulmonology specialist who meets many patients every day, he is at high risk for himself and his family.
“I don’t want to take the disease home, so I take care of it using full PPE and quality masks, to make it safer,” said Dr. Giaca.
While Dr. Cahyarini, Sp.MK (K) also stated that patients wearing masks can minimize the spread of the virus in the air when the patient coughs.
3. Cough on your arm and wash your hands
It is not recommended to cover our mouths when we cough with our palms, because our palms are active and can hold anything and anyone. In order for the virus not to spread, it is advisable to cough using the inside of the arm and wash your hands more often before touching the parts of the body.
4. Make sure the air in the room is always safe
The way to ensure safe indoor air is to add ventilation so that the air exchange always happens smoothly. Also, in this modern era, there is an air purifier that can clean the air from dust, viruses and dirt. Or you can also kill viruses in the air with UV-C air disinfection.
“With Signify’s expertise in UV-C technology, there is now an effective method to reduce the spread of airborne diseases, such as Covid-19, flu, tuberculosis and others using UV-C air disinfection,” said Dedy Bagus Pramono, Leader Country means Indonesia.
“This tool also makes it easier to do tasks without worrying when the device is on,” he continued.
While Dr. Cahyarini, Sp.MK (K) also added that UV rays will kill germs. The germ particles are still present, but they are no longer infectious.
