cougar walks through the streets of San Francisco in the USA

A cougar was seen in San Francisco, California, according to CBS San Francisco. The animal was captured by a Ring doorbell camera after 3 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18, in the Portola neighborhood and in Bernal Heights park.

The witnesses called the animal care entity San Francisco Animal Care & Control, whose representatives saw images of the animal and noticed that it had a collar.

With the help of the Department of Fish and Wildlife, the agency was able to determine that the animal was wearing a distinctive collar from Project Puma, a conservation program that tracks feral cats in the Bay area.

The latest reading on the collar confirmed that the animal was roaming near the Bernal Heights neighborhood. Animal Care and Control believes that the cougar was lost and may have already returned home.
