Côte-d’Or: 400,000 euros to renovate a strategic lock

440,000 euros, of which 20% financed by the region and the recovery plan. This is the amount of the envelope devoted to the renovation of the lock of Saint-Jean-de-Losne, south of Dijon. This equipment of about forty meters in length is considered strategic by VNF. It opens the way to the Burgundy Canal at the Saône and also gives access to the port of Saint-Jean-de-Losne, one of the very first in France in terms of pleasure boating.

Sealing

The site is aimed at the complete restoration of the doors, which were no longer watertight enough, as well as that of the damaged concrete of the structure.

“The site, one of the two works giving access to the Burgundy Canal, was degraded. The masonry will be redone, new doors installed. The passage of boats will be facilitated”, explained, during a visit to the site, Nathalie Vincent, manager of the Burgundy Canal at VNF.

250 million by 2030

The objective for the manager is not only to ensure the proper functioning of the structure, but also to prepare its automation, planned as part of the network modernization plan which will run until 2030. Until then , VNF plans to invest some 250 million euros in the maintenance and transformation of the 189 structures along the 240 kilometers of the waterway, launched in 1832.

In the meantime, in Saint-Jean-de-Losne, a team of around ten workers are getting down to work on the site, led at full speed. Started on January 24, the work must indeed be completed on March 20 for the resumption of river activity.
