COSYGA: update on preparations for the next National Council – AGP

Libreville, March 3, 2023 (AGP)-As part of the preparations for a National Council of the Gabonese Trade Union Confederation (COSYGA) scheduled to take place on March 7, Secretary General Philippe Djoula called a working meeting to the point, this Thursday, March 2, 2023.

The mother of the Gabonese trade union centers, COSYGA, is preparing to hold its National Council on Tuesday March 7 in Libreville, with the central theme: “The cost of living: issues and challenges”, led by national experts.

To this end, the executive office brought together all the members to discuss the preparations for the said council. COSYGA Secretary General Philippe Djoula recalled that “ this national council is a statutory body before the Congress which fixes the date, the places, the agenda of the congress“. Before tackling the other points on the agenda, namely: the affiliation of the members and the subscriptions, as well as the organization of May Day, for a gathering of forces, in order to raise the demands of the workers , and invite the highest authorities to the opening of negotiations for collective agreements.

During this meeting, he discussed with all the representatives of the affiliated unions or not, on the organization of this national council, the challenges and the perspectives, among others.

« Like every year, we must hold a national council to make our management public, in transparency. This council will review certain provisions of our statutes and rules of procedure. Beyond the statutes, it will set the number of members of the Executive Board from now on. “, he let know.

While evoking the financial difficulties, he invited each other to submit to monthly contributions regularly. Similarly, Philippe Djoula encouraged members to get more involved in the preparations, for a better organization of these meetings.

The union leader has also launched a call for mass membership, for a common struggle: “The rights of workers”.
