Even before construction work can begin on the surface renovation of the cantonal road in Oberhofen, including upgrading the bus stops and street lighting for people with disabilities, one thing is clear: the costs will be around 40 percent higher than approved.

In November 2022, the Mettauertal municipal assembly approved CHF 791,150 for the renovation of the surface in Oberhofen, including the disabled-friendly expansion of the Kreuz bus stop and the conversion of the street lighting to LEDs. At the same time, an application made by the assembly for the disabled-friendly conversion of the Ausserdorf bus stop was approved as a project addendum (the NFZ reported). Subject to cantonal approval that this is technically feasible. Now it is clear: it can be realized. The project was supplemented accordingly by the planner. Both bus stops – Ausserdorf and Kreuz – which are around 350 meters apart, will be built as roadway stops with a stopping edge of 22 centimeters in accordance with the requirements of the Disability Equality Act (BehiG).
Street drainage not working
“At all stops, a shelter with a rear wall without side walls is installed above the pavement, in the area of the second door of the bus,” says the documents for the Mettauertal community meeting of June 14th. In the course of the clarifications, it was noticed at the «Bidenmatt» junction that the road drainage was not working and had to be re-implemented. In addition to the inflation adjustments, the additional credit includes the additional costs for the “Ausserdorf” bus stop, which is suitable for the disabled, including the purchase of land and the adjustment work on the street drainage mentioned above. The project thus burdens the community with a total of 1.12 million Swiss francs. Together with the costs for the canton of CHF 1.068 million, the project amounts to a total of CHF 2.190 million. The sovereign is also responsible for four credit settlements, most of which end with credit underruns. A loan of almost CHF 100,000 for widening the Einlenker Grossmatt/Oberdorfstrasse Wil road is also being submitted for approval. “The project enables a better overview and an appropriate traffic and handling concept for the new construction of the Wiler Trotte,” says the municipal council. In the district of Etzgen, a 12-metre-long detour is planned on the mountain road. This is to make it easier for vehicles to cross. The municipal council is applying for a commitment loan of almost CHF 100,000 for this purpose. The voters also decide on the revised staffing plan with 1700 full-time positions and two naturalization applications.
Meeting of residents in the Mettau Valley on Wednesday, June 14, 7:30 p.m. in the Mettau gymnasium.
