Costco changes the rules. Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, Costco has been implementing new policies – and updating them often – to ensure proper social distancing, help its customers and employees stay safe, and ensure stores are properly stocked.
As nonessential businesses begin to reopen across the country, Costco begins loosening some of the restrictions they put in place in mid-March. While customers will still be asked to wear face masks in the near future, pizza lovers will no longer wait as Costco reopened most of its ‘food courts’, albeit with limited service.
This is what customers who go to Costco next time will find.
Schedule
Since May 4, Costco has returned to its normal schedule after closing most of its stores and gas stations earlier than usual for several weeks. Most stores open at 9:00 a.m., but it’s good to check the hours with your local store before visiting.
Priority access to health workers and the elderly
Starting this week, the store will continue to give priority access to police officers, emergency medical personnel, firefighters, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and hospital employees if they present valid identification.
Costco membership policy
Costco limited the number of people who can enter by membership to two, including families with children. While Costco has already lifted that restriction in many of the stores, experts recommend not going to the store with children or with many people at the same time to avoid crowds in the stores.
The only exceptions to this policy are Kentucky and Puerto Rico, where only one person is allowed per membership.
