Costa’s provocation (Azione): “The left doesn’t want us, but the centre-right voters…”

The Noto survey for Republic speaks clearly, the base of the PD and M5S would not look favorably on the return of Italia Viva and Azione to the center-left. Among the centrists, however, there are those who wonder what the outcome would have been if the same question had been asked to center-right voters. This is the case of Enrico Costaa former minister and member of Azione, who suggests he already knows the answer. The MP, citing the Noto poll, wrote on X: “It may be my impression, but if the same question were asked to centre-right voters, the answer would be very different”.

Reading the comments under the tweet, in fact, more than one person agrees with Costa. Christian, for example, writes: “As a centre-right voter, I would have no problem welcoming the former Third Pole into the coalition”. But he also sets some limits. “The only condition,” he explains, “would be for Calenda and Renzi to step back, replaced by a figure closer to the centre-right like Mara Carfagna”. Then there is Marco who comments dryly: “Probably yes”.

Another user writes: “What a political mistake Renzi and Calenda are making by returning to the center-left. They haven’t understood that their voters are center-right and that they especially hate M5S”. Alberto brings up old elections and comments: “Piedmont and Basilicata prove it”. Davide instead cites a historical example: “De Gasperi told the communists to go to hell. Liberals are by nature center-right. After all, communism and freedom are an oxymoron”. Then there are those who underline: “As a right-wing voter I would be very happy to see Az and Iv join the coalition”.

“No to Renzi and Calenda”. PD and M5S voters skeptical about the broad field

by Antonio Noto

Now it remains to be seen what will happen. In the meantime, it should be noted that, while Matthew Renzi look to the left in the centrist area the questions continue. And Costa, with this tweet, makes it clear to Charles Calenda to look to the right.
