Costa Rican taxi drivers will sue the president over Uber’s operation
Costa Rican taxi drivers are preparing a lawsuit against the president of the republic, Carlos Alvarado, and several other officials, for the operation that allows Uber to operate in the country without having authorization to do so.
The lawsuit will be presented by the lawyer Enrique Rojas Franco on behalf of the Union of Costa Rican Taxi Drivers (UTC).
Rojas, assured that it is possible to present a different lawsuit to the one that was proposed before the Administrative Litigation.
“Uber operates in the country illegally since it does not have an authorization from the Public Transportation Council (CTP),” said Rojas.
The lawsuits, which will be presented individually, are directed against Roberto Jiménez, general regulator of the Republic; Xinia Herrera, deputy regulator of the Republic and Rodolfo Méndez Mata, minister of public works and transportation; in addition to the aforementioned Carlos Alvarado.
According to Enrique Rojas, they will be presented for damages caused to taxi drivers.
