The episcopate of Costa Rica welcomes the celebration of the Annunciation of the Lord to contemplate Saint Joseph “a living example of collaboration in the work of God”

A vehement call to the faithful and to all citizens to protect and protect, always and in all circumstances, life from its conception to its natural end is the call that the Costa Rican episcopate makes again in a message on the occasion of the celebration, yesterday, Thursday March 25, of the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord. In particular, the bishops insist on the responsibility to defend, in every social, cultural and media context, the inviolable right to life of the unborn child, the foundation of natural law and prior to all positive rights.
“Save and protect both lives, both that of the child and that of the mother,” reiterates the message from the Episcopal Conference of Costa Rica (CECR). And he adds that “abortion procured and carried out will never be a social good, but rather the dramatic occasion of irrational regression in a society.”
The message recalls the humanist tradition and the pro-life vocation of Costa Ricans, the indelible principles that forged the nation and that are enshrined in its Political Constitution.
“Let us transmit to the new generations the precious truth and beauty that resides in all life, however vulnerable it may be. Human life is always a gift that precedes us and that deserves to be cared for personally, family and socially ”, emphasizes the message.
The Costa Rican bishops, consistent with the Year dedicated to Saint Joseph, invite on the feast of the Annunciation of the Lord, to contemplate his figure as “a living example in the work of God. The message recalls that the integrity, virtues and obedience of Joseph made him be considered just and that he received from God the Father the inalienable mission of protecting, protecting, guarding and forming his most holy Son, born of his blessed Mother, Mary.
“The inalienable mission that Joseph and Mary carried out throughout their lives, shone greatly when they had to confront that superb power that sought to destroy the life of Jesus in his most vulnerable childhood”, the bishops refer to point out that ” Saint Joseph responds to Herod by obeying God’s plan ”.
For this reason, the CECR concludes its message by asking the Lord to make Costa Ricans “firm and bold”, to entrust them, like Saint Joseph, with the life and integrity of the most vulnerable, unborn children, their mothers and their families. .
