The president of Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chaves, will hold a meeting with his counterpart from Panama, Laurentino Cortizo, on the 20th, in which they will inaugurate a border integration program, the Presidential House reported this Friday.
In the Costa Rican town of Paso Canoas, near the common border, both heads of state will open this initiative, the visit program indicates without further details.
On that day, the head of state of Costa Rica will begin a tour of the southern Brunca Region, which will last three days.
Last October, the leaders of these Central American countries shared the criterion of promoting control over the passage of migrants from the south of the American continent and their journey to the north.
From the Darién Jungle, Chaves and Cortizo summoned presidents of countries in the region of origin, transit and destination of migrants to an urgent meeting to jointly address this crisis, a meeting that was later held in Mexico.
