The 2022 edition of the New York 7’s takes place on Saturday November 26 with a new participation of the Belgium Barbarians. They line up with a team in the purest Baba’s style, with Belgian, American, French and Quebec players.
This is the fourth time that the Belgian barbarians will be part of the ‘Big Apple’, after 1999 (Cup finalist), 2017 (Social Cup winner) and 2019 (Elite Cup semi-final).
This Saturday, the team wants to be cosmopolitan with 2 Belgian players (Marin Delvaux and Antoine Roisin), 2 US players, 4 French players and 2 Quebec players. It is overseen by Simon Fauthoux and Marin Delvaux, who celebrate their seventh and third selections respectively.
It should be noted that the other 8 players are making their first appearance for the Belgian Barbarians.
Competing in the ‘Men Social’ tournament, which brings together 19 teams, the Belgium Barbarians have been placed in pool E where they will meet RC Montreal 2, West Hartford Blackhearts and Rockaway Rugby.
In the wake of the New York 7’s, the Belgium Barbarians will participate in the Dubai 7’s, which will take place from 1 to 3 December. They have also already validated their presence in 2023 at the tournaments in Benidorm (27-28 May), Tullamore (end of July) and Montreal (mid-September).
