On Saturday April 15 and Sunday April 16, the COSD entered two mixed teams of six runners (three men and three women) on the Ekiden in Pontault-Combault (77). It is a relay race of six runners over the distance of a marathon (42.195 km): 5 km, 10 km, 5 km, 10 km, 5 km, 7.195 km and it is an event which attracts more and more more people for a year or two. This race was a qualifier for the French Ekiden championships which will take place at the end of the year.
The objective was threefold: to show the colors of the club in the Paris region among the best teams. It’s done since team “1” finished on the podium in 3e position, with a running time of 2h 46’50”; revive the athletes in a sporting dynamic and competitive spirit after the last complicated weeks for the club; prepare the athletes for the various objectives to come, namely the 10 km of Saint-Dizier for some, the Marathon du Der for others. The race format, with the different distances, allows everyone to find something for themselves.
Trail du Pays d’Argonne: great performance by Pierre Varnier
Thirteen COSD athletes were involved in the three races (12 km, 26 km and 45 km) of the Pays d’Argonne trail, in Sainte-Menehould. It is worth noting the fine performance of Pierre Varnier, over the 12 km, which takes the victory. Pierre is a rising value of the club. He has just become a junior and is coming out of a good winter season which took him to the final of the French cross country championships in Carhaix, Brittany.
