A New Year’s Eve without firecrackers, mortars or even fireworks.

The prefecture has just announced a ban on end-of-year celebrations in Corsica.

“To ensure the safety of all during the end-of-year celebrations and prevent disturbances to public order, the purchase, sale and transfer of fireworks and pyrotechnic articles (categories C1, F1, C2, F2, C3, F3, C4, F4, P1, P2, T1 and T2) – … are prohibited until January 1, 2024 at 8 a.m. throughout the department.”

The use, wearing and transport by individuals of these devices are also prohibited, specifies the prefecture.

“Fireworks can be dangerous, both for users and for those around them or for their environmentremind the authorities. Often explosive, the pyrotechnic substances they may contain are likely to cause injuries and burns, or even cause fires.”
