Corsair releases a 9000D case for two PCs for almost 575 euros

Very specific use cases and of course for people who are willing to pay a lot more, although I think in the big picture, if you build 2 expensive systems, it doesn’t make much difference.

A specific use case might be that you run a server at home for whatever reason, or eg a workstation with a heavy CPU with many cores (which is not necessary for gaming) and also a gaming machine where the GPU does the important trick and you can do it with a gaming-oriented CPU with few cores but with high IPC and, for example, X3D cache. It’s not just about slightly different hardware, there’s also something to be said for keeping gaming and more business use separate from PCs (I don’t think it’s such an unusual idea there). If, moreover, you like to be a little more compact than 2 separate cabinets, you don’t mind additional work with water cooling, draining and refilling if you want to exchange a part (and at that time 2 system ). which you usually lose anyway if you choose water cooling) and therefore want to use water cooling, this is a very attractive solution in my opinion.

I think that water cooling is very important and even the definitive reason to go for this particular case is more expensive. What you can do with such a large cabinet is to put a lot of water cooling capacity, which is in principle enough for 2 systems or even more, in 1 loop and use it effectively for 1 system , especially if you don’t have 2 at the same time (but even if you do, because you only have a lot of heat dissipation). The result is a lot of cooling capacity that, depending on your use case (eg if you’re working on your workstation you’re not gaming and often the other way around), is used efficiently for 1 system, and you reach a point where, while still using regular water cooling with fans and radiators (and not harder things like active cooling elements with a compressor as in refrigerators, these things also exist especially for PCs and are called chillers) you can achieve almost maximum water cooling performance at the lowest noise level (fans only need to run very softly, you need a silent pump, or even provide 2, maybe also attractive from a redundancy point of view, so you can’t use at least 2 systems if one pump breaks , hah). If I wasn’t using a laptop for work but needed a desktop with lots of CPU cores, I would seriously consider this. Then I think this is the coolest solution, although of course it costs a little more, but you are already building 2 expensive systems anyway…

Only with air cooling can you really build this cabinet with 2 systems, but as far as I’m concerned, a very important argument is gone and the benefit is only a smaller physical footprint left compared to 2 separate cabinets.
