(ANSA) – GENOA, MAY 07 – Following the precautionary measures involving the president of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti, the former mayor of Porto Venere Matteo Cozzani, and other figures, the seals also appeared on the construction site underway in former Carlo Alberto quarry on the Palmaria island (La Spezia). The La Spezia forestry police carried out the preventive seizure decree of the Prosecutor’s Office on the construction site which should transform that corner of the island into a bathing establishment, equipped with a restaurant and swimming pool. The Palmaria island is at the center of a tourist development project wanted by the Municipality of Porto Venere and the Liguria Region which is contested and opposed by environmentalist associations and citizens. In the past, a seizure had already been ordered due to shortcomings in the authorizations, but the reviewing court had considered for the release of seizure. Seals were also placed on the former Michela Ravecca nursery school in Porto Venere, the subject of a tender that would have been made for the benefit of the owners of the Grand Hotel, with a view to an expansion of the accommodation facility.
