Corruption Eradication Committee Chairman Firli Bahuri Reported to Police for Bringing KPK Documents to Pre-Trial Hearing

Jakarta

The chairman of the Corruption Eradication Committee is inactive Firli Bahuri was reported to Polda Metro Jaya after submitting documentary evidence of the handling of the alleged bribery case of former officials from the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation in the pre-trial hearing of the extortion case against Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL). Firli opened her voice.

“I think it has been explained by lawyers and experts who were questioned in court,” said Firli when met at Kopi Timur, East Jakarta, Tuesday (19/12/2023).

When asked again about him being in the police because he submitted evidence from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) documents at the pre-trial hearing, Firli responded with the same answer.

“I think it has been explained by lawyers and experts examined in court,” said Firli.

As previously reported, the inactive KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri was again reported to Polda Metro Jaya. The reporter is the Chair of the Indonesian Budget Transparency and Anti-Corruption Institute (Lemtaki), Edy Susilo. The report has been registered with number LP/B/7588/XII/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA dated December 18 2023.

Reported in this case is Firli Bahuri and his attorney, Ian Iskandar. Both were reported under Article 54 of Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Openness of Public Information in conjunction with Article 322 of the Criminal Code.

“We have made an LP to Polda Metro Jaya. Reported party Firli and his lawyer brought KPK documents,” said Edy Susilo when contacted (19/12/2023).

Edy believes that the status of Firli Bahuri, who is currently the inactive chairman of the Corruption Eradication Committee, should not arbitrarily bring investigation documents at the anti-corruption agency to court.

Edy believes that it is feared that Firli’s steps could be an opportunity for misuse of these documents. Apart from that, Edy assessed that Firli’s steps in bringing documents on alleged bribery of former officials from the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation to the SYL pretrial hearing were inappropriate.

“It was brought to the judge to scare the judge or Polda Metro, that’s not possible, it’s not appropriate. Even though Mr. Firli went there in the extortion case, he refused or carried out a pre-trial regarding rejecting the status of a suspect in connection with the extortion case. What does this have to do with the documents? “corruption related to DJKA, it is clear that there are already suspects who have been detained,” he said.

Furthermore, Edy asked Polda Metro Jaya to process the existing report. He also asked the police to examine Firli Bahuri and his attorney regarding the reported case.
