Corruption: a member of the Toti list, king of preferences, under investigation

(ANSA) – GENOA, 07 MAY – Among those under investigation in the corruption investigation which also led to the president of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti under house arrest, there is also a regional councilor from the Toti List, Giandomenico Cianci, accused of corruption. King of the preferences in the last regional elections with over 4,500 votes, Cianci has an established condominium administration firm in Rapallo, where he enjoys vast electoral support and where there will be a vote for the mayor in June. According to what the magistrates write, Cianci must answer for the crime of corruption because he allegedly asked for votes from an entrepreneur linked to the Ndrangheta, who has since died, in exchange for work in the condominiums he managed. “On the occasion of the electoral consultations of the Liguria Region on 20 and 21 September 2020, Cianci acting as candidate for the Regional Council for the “Let’s change with Toti President” list and Mamone as voter, by agreement between them, Cianci, to obtain to his own advantage the electoral vote of Mamone and his family, offered and promised, as a benefit, the assignment of works in condominiums managed by him to the company attributable to Mamone (Mamone & C srl)”. And “Mamone – the investigators write – in order to give his vote to the candidate for the Regional Council Cianci Domenico, accepted his offer and promise. “Aggravated fact”, as far as Luigi Mamone is concerned, “for having been committed for the purpose of facilitate the activity of the ‘Ndrangheta mafia association, in particular the Raso-Gullace-Albanese gang with branches in Liguria.
