Ufba denies places in Medicine for students who migrate from BI
According to the university, Special Selection Process in 2024.2 BI-CPL offered more vacancies than usual this year

In the protest, the students alleged that the university had reduced the number of places in the Linear Progression Course (CPL) from 41 to 32, which is a migration process from BI to special undergraduate courses, for the field of Medicine.
According to Ufba, based on general sanctions from the internal community, the university established the Special Selection Process for Students who Graduated in Interdisciplinary Baccalaureate (BI) for Admission to Linear Progression Courses (CPL), for the second academic semester of 2024.
Questioned by the MPF, in January 2024, about the possibility of holding the competition, Ufba said that the step had already been approved by the Academic Council. Therefore, in addition to the regular selection process for course transfer, the institution would conduct the Special Selection Process in 2024.2 BI-CPL, with open registrations from September 3rd to 5th.
In order to make the extraordinary process possible, the Ufba Academic Council approved the reduction of places in selection processes for the external public in the following categories:
1. Reduction of places offered by Sisu 2024, for Psychology, Design, Medicine, Communication, Cultural Production and Journalism courses;
2. A reduction in the supply of vacancies in the annual selection process: no External Transfer and Graduate vacancies were offered.
The Special Selection Process 2024.2 consists of courses that offer places for the second academic semester and offers 472 transfer places, for different courses. In Medicine, the Faculty of Medicine of Bahia, Salvador campus, has 32 vacancies, a number that doubles the annual offer of vacancies, according to Ufba.
“The process for defining the number of vacancies was widely discussed with student representatives from the Academic Centers of the Interdisciplinary Baccalaureate, representatives from the Institute of Humanities, Arts and Sciences (IHAC), advisers from the Academic Teaching Council (CAE) and representatives from UFBA university. units, between the months of June and December 2023 and the total number of vacancies and courses that participated in this Special Award will be announced in March 2024, at a meeting of the Council”, announces the dean of Undergraduate Education , Nancy Vieira.
Expansion of vacancies
With the additional process, this year, in particular, Ufba offered 1,756 places for the BI-CPL Selection Process in two minutes:
a) in 2024.1, in the regular process that provided 1,284 vacancies;
b) in the extraordinary process that provided 472 places, in all courses that have new classes in the second semester.
In Medicine, the total number of places available in 2024 in the Linear Progression Course jumped from 41 places to 73 places. On the Salvador campus, in the Regular Selection Process, 32 places were awarded, distributed as follows: 16 places in the first semester and 16 places in the second semester. With the exceptional competition, the same number was available for admission to the academic semester: 32 places.
In Vitória da Conquista, 9 vacancies were opened only in the first semester through regular selection, since the campus does not offer new classes in the second academic semester.
