The expert report from the Technical Police Department (DPT) of Bahia concluded that the accident at the amusement park installed in Campo da Pronaica, in Cajazeirasit happened due to lack of maintenance. The incident took place in February and left two young men injured, one of whom had his arm amputated. In a statement, the Department of Development and Urbanism of the City (Sedur) said that the park, at the time, gave a technical inspection report on the equipment, as required by law.

According to the document, it was noted that there was no review of the “Intoxx” toy by the owner, and no instructions from the manufacturer of the device.

On the technical side, the expert also found that the accident was caused by the failure of the end-stroke sensors, which controlled the height of the movement of the mobile boom of the device. The accident occurred, therefore, as a result of the failure of these sensors, which did not trigger the safety stop for the movement of this mobile lift, which ended with the gondola hitting the floor of the equipment.

The accident with the toy caused Andrei Peroba, 20 years old, to have his arm amputated. The victim was traveling with her 17-year-old sister, who suffered minor facial injuries. The young man underwent surgery at the State General Hospital (HGE), where his right arm was partially amputated. CORREIO also had access to the physical injury examination report, which describes the patient’s progress and mentions the serious injuries.

In a note, the Department of Development and Urbanism of the City (Sedur) informed that the issuance of a sports park license, according to the current legislation, depends on the presentation of a technical inspection report on the equipment.

According to the city’s portfolio, the document was created by a qualified person with a valid Technical Responsibility Note (ART), and Fire Department Inspection Report (AVCB) and was presented at the time. The report was published by the Center for Integrated Event Licensing (CLE).

Andrei’s lawyer, Bruno Moura, complained about illegality in the park. “There was no maintenance, two buttons – which are emergency and emergency sensors if there is a manual error – were broken. The park did not have an instruction manual, the ride did not have a manual”, he complained. The defense also filed a lawsuit for moral damages.

Remember the case

Two people were injured after a toy broke in the Cajazeiras region in February. Among them, a 20-year-old boy was injured in the arm. “I didn’t even want to look at his arm [irmão] because it was very ugly, very ugly. I only heard the thump. When the toy stopped, I ran out to ask for help,” said Andreia Peroba, 17 years old.

Videos circulating on social media show desperate people trying to help the injured immediately after the toy broke. One of the people says that one of the youth’s arm was broken during the accident.

The uncle of the victims, in an interview with TV Bahia, said that there was a power outage, and the toys stopped working. Then, the power returned and the toy would have fallen higher than usual, even touching the ground. At that time, the youngster would have had his arm in the structure of the toy.

He also said there was no immediate help. “There was no quick help because there are no firefighters in the park,” he said. According to his uncle, the park was established in February. At the time of the accident, all the toys stopped working. The Fire Department said the young man was rescued by an ambulance from the 12th BBM/Salvar.
