The Central Bank (BC), this Thursday (15), in Brazil, reported the leakage of personal data linked to 8,032 Pix keys from Banco BTG Pactual customers, as a result of periodic failures in the institution’s systems. The information was published between July 23 and August 5 this year.
According to the BC, no sensitive data such as passwords, transaction information, financial balances or other information under banking confidentiality was disclosed. The leaked information is of registration type, such as user name, masked CPF (with some numbers hidden), relationship institution, organization, account number and type.
People who have had their registration data out via the institution’s application or internet banking will be notified. According to the BC, no other means of communication will be used for affected users, such as messaging applications, phone calls, SMS or email.
The BC informed that the necessary measures have been taken to investigate the matter in detail and that the measures provided in the current regulations will be applied.
This year alone, eight episodes of data leaks from financial institutions have been recorded. BC maintains a special page on its website to record security incidents of this nature.
