TRIBUNNEWS.COM, NEW DELHI – The SARS-CoV-2 virus has not only caused the emergence of the corona virus (Covid-19), but has also ‘given birth to’ several other new diseases.
One of the infections that spreads rapidly for patients after recovering from Covid-19 is black fungus.
This rare fungal infection is also known as ‘Mucormycosis’.
As the name implies, black fungus is a fungal disease commonly found in patients who have not only been on steroids for a long time.

But also those who have been hospitalized for a long time, using oxygen or ventilators, undergoing treatment in hospitals that have poor hygiene, to those who have taken drugs for other diseases such as diabetes.
If not treated in a timely manner, this black fungus infection can be fatal.

Quoted from the page of The Times of India, Sunday (23/5/2021), steroids commonly consumed by Covid-19 survivors can make their bodies weak and have low levels of immunity.
Steroids are known to also increase blood sugar levels in diabetics and Covid-19 patients non-diabetes.
High blood sugar levels are cited as the main reason mushrooms can breed.
