Leidschendam-Voorburg – Since last Tuesday, 81 residents of Leidschendam-Voorburg have been reported to be infected with the corona virus.
This brings the number of residents who are known to be or have been infected with the virus to 443. Furthermore, two new hospital admissions have been added and one resident is known to have died of corona. The number of hospital admissions is now at 27 and 21 inhabitants have been confirmed (by the RIVM) that they have died as a result of the corona virus.
National figures
In the week of 16 to 22 September, the GGD Municipal Health Services reported 13,471 new people nationwide who tested positive for COVID-19. For the third week in a row there has been a strong increase in the number of infections. The percentage of positive tests at the GGD test locations in the past week is also considerably higher than the week before, at 6.1%. The number of tests taken in the GGD test lanes has remained virtually the same.
The provinces with the most infections per 100,000 inhabitants are Noord-Holland, Zuid-Holland, Utrecht and Groningen. The largest number of infections per 100,000 inhabitants can still be found in the age category 20 to 29 years. The number of infections is increasing in all age groups.
The number of reports of people admitted to a hospital ward because of COVID-19 increased to 152 reports in the past week. Most hospital admissions in the past week were in the age groups 55 to 84 years. The trend of more hospital admissions compared to the previous week is consistent with the data from the Nice Foundation (National Intensive Care Evaluation). The NICE Foundation also reports an increase in the number of people admitted to the Intensive Care Department because of COVID-19.
In the past week, 33 COVID-19 patients have been reported as deceased, 19 more than the week before.
The number of reports of people with an established COVID-19 infection in nursing homes was also higher in the past week than in the previous week. The most positively tested nursing home residents were reported in the GGD regions of Rotterdam-Rijnmond, Haaglanden, Hollands Midden and Amsterdam Amstelland. There has been a slight increase in the number of deaths in nursing homes.
