The city’s health department cannot make sense of it, apart from the fact that the contact tracking works really well, according to a spokeswoman for Mayor Burkhard Jung (62, SPD).
“The higher the number of infections, the more difficult it becomes to follow up,” confirms Prof. Dr. Markus Scholz (45) from the Institute for Medical Informatics, Statistics and Epidemiology at the University of Leipzig.
“In addition, the virus was completely gone in Leipzig in the summer,” Scholz gives another reason.
The comparatively low average age in the city or the distance to the Czech hotspot could also play a role, according to the Ministry of Health.
