Coronavirus : why hydroalcoholic gel and sun do not make good bedfellows

The hydroalcoholic gel is one of our best allies for several months and, for the rest, it seems necessary to adapt our use with the arrival of summer. Health professionals alert in particular on the association not recommended between this antibacterial product and exposure to the sun.

In the Spanish daily El mundo, dermatologists remind us that, as its name indicates, the hydroalcoholic gel is comprised of alcohol.

The mask has become indispensable to life in society since the onset of the Covid-19.

Gold, for instance, if it is applied regularly, has a drying and irritating. Thus, the skin must deal with two attacks simultaneous if it is more exposed to the solar radiation.

If the antibacterial solution used contains essential oils or fragrance, the skin irritation can be more severe and the tasks of hyperpigmentation may appear during exposure to the sun.

The risk is even more real than the hydroalcoholic gel is completely colourless. We can so easily think, wrongly, that it remains longer on the skin.

So, to avoid any danger, it is advisable to wash hands with soap and water prior to exposure. As effective as the gel to protect themselves against the coronavirus, this technique also has the advantage of not weakening the skin against the sun.
