Coronavirus. WHO: Most daily infections. Second day in a row

The highest daily increase in coronavirus infections worldwide was recorded for the second day in a row, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported on Friday (October 9). 350,766 infected people arrived in the last 24 hours.

Previously, the highest daily increase in infections was reported by WHO on Thursday. At that time, it amounted to 338,779 infections.

In the last 24 hours, the highest number of new infections was detected in the Americas – 127,250 and a little less in Europe – 109,749. In the Asian region, 82,284 new infections were found, in Africa, 6386, in the West Pacific region, 3,431.

The country with the highest number of new infections is India, where 70,496 cases were found in the last 24 hours. There were 52,458 new infections in the US and 31,553 new infections in Brazil.

According to WHO data, 6,339 people worldwide died from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, compared to 5,514 the day before. This is much less than during the spring coronavirus wave – 12,393 people died on April 17.

In total, 36 361 054 people have been infected with the coronavirus worldwide so far. There were 1,056,186 deaths. 25,506,987 people recovered.
