Although it is looking at the situation of the new Chinese coronavirus with concern, the World Health Organization (WHO) understands that not yet a case for declaring an international public health emergency.
According to the information that came out of an emergency meeting of the organization, this afternoon, at its headquarters in Geneva, WHO does not, however, follow the situation “to the minute”.
“It has not yet become a global public health emergency problem. But it could be ”. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made this public statement after the consultation meeting with the organization’s emergency committee, made up of 16 independent experts.
“Do not, however, have any doubt that this is an emergency situation in China”, added Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

For now, there are more than 600 people diagnosed with the new coronavirus only in mainland China. They were also cases detected in Macau, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan and the United States.
Beijing has meanwhile closed three Chinese cities – Wuhan, where the first cases arose, and neighboring Huanggang and Ezhou -, a quarantine that leads to the confinement of more than 18 million people.What is known about the epidemic
