Coronavirus. Where are the 109 clusters located in France located?

A cluster is defined when at least three confirmed or probable cases of Covid-19, within a period of seven days and who belong to the same community or have participated in the same gathering of people, whether they know each other or not. In total, 109 outbreaks of transmission were recorded between May 9 and May 27, as indicated by Public Health France, in his latest epidemiological bulletin, published Friday May 29. 104 in mainland France, and 5 in the overseas departments and regions.

Increasing foci because better detected

Since deconfinement from May 11, the transmission centers are under the supervision of the Regional Health Agencies (ARS). The goal is to control these outbreaks by tracing and screening of contact persons. More detected and investigated, these outbreaks are increasing: there were 3 in the week of April 27, 10 in the week of May 4, 31 in the week of May 11 and 45 in the week of May 18. Please note, these figures do not take into account homes discovered in nursing homes or small family settings.

14 clusters in the West

Among the 109 clusters counted on May 27, a part is located in the west of France, as the map shows. The regions of Brittany, Pays-de-la-Loire, Normandy have a total of 14. In Brittany, there have been two outbreaks in Côtes-d’Armor, one in Morbihan and one in Ille-et-Vilaine. In Normandy, one in Orne, one in Eure and one in Seine-Maritime. In Pays-de-la-Loire, three in Loire-Atlantique, two in Maine-et-Loire, one in Sarthe, one in Vendée. There are also five in Deux-Sèvres and two in Vienne.

Three-quarters of clusters have moderate to high “criticality”

22% of the foci of transmission detected were in health establishments, 20% in public or private companies, 19% in social accommodation and integration establishments, 10% in medico-social establishments for people disabled, 6% in extended family settings (several family homes). 64% of the clusters have more than 5 cases.

75% of the clusters were assessed from moderate (37%) to high (38%) “criticality”. 80% of these clusters are still under investigation. 14% are under control, that is, in particular, that there were no new cases seven days after the last case, and 7% are closed (no new cases, 14 days after the date signs of the last case).
