Coronavirus vaccine – US introduces new rules for arrivals from January 22

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Thursday that it will require all foreign nationals crossing the border to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Including those who enter the country out of necessity and not for tourism purposes.

According to the statement, the restrictions will apply to all non-US citizens, regardless of the reason for entering the country, including those whose travel is necessary.

The rule does not apply to persons with a residence permit. The new requirement is aimed at reducing the burden on the country’s healthcare sector, as well as facilitating cross-border trade and travel.

“Starting January 22, 2022, the DHS will require non-U.S. citizens who wish to enter the United States through land borders and ferry terminals at the borders with Mexico and Canada to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide appropriate evidence,” says in a press release.
