Doctors criticize conditions in Kassel refugee home
The number of corona cases in Kassel has skyrocketed, the reason for this being 112 cases in an initial reception center for refugees. Now the medical team at the property is raising serious allegations against the responsible regional council in Gießen: As early as the beginning of October, when the first infections in the facility became known, the doctors had demanded that those affected be isolated as soon as possible, said the head of the medical team, Helmuth Greger, the hr.
But the conditions on site made that impossible. Distance rules and the mask requirement are extremely difficult to implement. “And the insulation conditions do not meet the quality standards as we expected,” said Greger.
The RP Gießen was aware of the grievances in advance. “We warned: woe if something like that happens,” said Greger. The outbreak now has consequences for doctors and residents. The doctors can only go to the facility in emergencies. Otherwise there would be a telephone consultation – how this should work with language barriers is unclear.
