Coronavirus transmission has been halved after vaccination, according to a British study quoted by Scottish authorities on Friday.
The effectiveness of anti-Covid vaccines already registered is confirmed, at least in part, against the transmission of the virus to others, according to a British study cited by Scottish authorities on Friday, writes ANSA.
The study, conducted on 300,000 people by the University of Glasgow and Public Health Scotland and described as “very encouraging”, indicates a 30% decrease in transmission after the first dose of vaccine and 54% after the booster.
Previously, research across the Scottish population had credited the massive effectiveness of vaccines against Covid infection, with a drop of over 80% in hospital admissions after a single dose of Pfizer and 90% after a dose of AstraZeneca.
The UK has so far vaccinated around 23 million people, using AstraZeneca and Pfizer to about the same extent. And it had an extremely limited incidence of serious side effects.
