Coronavirus today. UK government thinks plan B for the winter

Germany, the weekly incidence of infections returns to over 100 cases

The weekly incidence of coronavirus cases in Germany per 100 thousand inhabitants this Sunday reached 106.3 cases. It is the first time since mid-May that the number of cases has been exceeded. The Robert Koch Institute, the official agency responsible for controlling the pandemic, has verified in the last 24 hours 13,732 new cases and another 23 deaths across the country, for a total of 4.46 million infections and 95,100 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. In the last few hours, it was also announced that Germany has added Croatia and Bulgaria to the list of high-risk countries, establishing five days of quarantine for passengers not vaccinated or cured of the disease from these countries.

Croatia and Bulgaria join three other EU member states (Romania, Lithuania and Slovenia) that were already on this list, which includes 70 countries in all. The pandemic is experiencing a rebound in Central European countries, as well as in Russia, due to the arrival of winter and the slowdown in the vaccination process (in Germany the percentage of people who have received the complete program is 66 per hundred). However, the German government clings to the relatively low number of inpatients to avoid imposing new restrictive measures. Over the past seven days, the hospitalization rate per 100,000 people has been 2.68.
