In Korea over 500 cases for the second consecutive day
South Korea reported more than 500 new coronavirus cases for the second consecutive day, the highest level since early March. There are 569 new cases in the last 24 hours which bring the total in the country to 32,887, with 516 deaths. Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun warned that daily infections could rise to 1,000 and lead to a more serious crisis, including shortages of hospital beds if social distancing measures and other restrictions fail to stop the spread.
“The situation is extremely serious and acute, as all 17 metropolitan cities and provinces and in particular all 25 districts of Seoul are reporting new cases,” Chung said.
