Almost 1,200 masks have disappeared from a hospital in Sulingen, Lower Saxony.
They were packed in boxes stored in a room near an operating room. The room was not accessible to everyone, a police spokesman said on Monday. The masks were intended for medical personnel working in operating theaters. The value of such a mask is normally only a few cents, but protective masks are now difficult to obtain due to the coronavirus epidemic.
Germany currently has around 150 cases of contamination. In Lower Saxony, only one contamination was detected.
