Coronavirus: the vaccination center at Agde hospital is running at full speed

Despite the full mobilization of the teams, the wait is still long.

Friday morning, Bernard Jacucci, retired doctor and coordinator of the Agde vaccination center, scowled. This never lasts very long for the talkative practitioner, who was rightly worried that the Montpellier hospital center has not received the vaccine order for next week.

A setback in a long list “small adjustments to be made”, which finally settled, as usual.

We went from 200 to 360 doses of vaccine per week

If urgency and resourcefulness were the key words of the first days at the Agde vaccination center, housed within the walls of Saint-Loup hospital, today, “it turns out well”, confirms Bernard Jacucci, who never ceases to pay tribute to the teams that follow one another every day. “Nurses, town hall, retired doctors (read elsewhere), everyone is doing a great job “, rejoices the former general practitioner. “People are thrilled to be the first to be vaccinated.”

On this point, there are obviously many expectations. With nearly 6,000 people over 75 years of age to be vaccinated on the territory of the Agath region, the waiting list is long, very long. “I am 82 years old, I am overweight, diabetic and with heart disease, Michel Souques wrote to us during the week, a well-known underwater diver in our city. It is not possible to make an appointment in Agde, Pézenas or Sète. I, who thought I was at risk and had a relatively high priority… ”

Bernard Jacucci readily acknowledges that “it’s the fight with Doctolib to find a place!” Especially since the doses of vaccine are distributed dropper: 200 per week at the start of the vaccination campaign, 360 today which, with the injection of the second dose in the first vaccinated, leaves no room than 160 new patients per week. Suffice to say that it will take a lot of patience.

The importance of retired physicians

“Everyone who was approached responded present.” Retired doctors are present at the vaccination site, in particular for a health interview prior to the injection. “Three retirees who did not practice here but came to settle in Agde on retirement contacted me spontaneously to come and help us”, appreciates Bernard Jacucci. Beneficial, especially since the vaccination is now carried out from Monday to Friday.
