Coronavirus: the Montauban match

There will be a little audience, all the same, Saturday in Sapiac. The Montauban rugby club announced this Wednesday afternoon that the match between the USM and Provence Rugby (6th day of Pro D2) will take place in front of an audience of just under 1,000 spectators, in accordance with government obligations, in the face of the Coronavirus epidemic.

The organization is however a headache for the Tarn-et-Garonnais club, which has more than 880 individual subscribers, and 2,500 subscribers via partners. A total of 3,300. As for the average attendance per game, it is 5,000 spectators. So there will be disappointed, who will not be able to attend their team’s match. The USM explains in a press release that it has decided to limit to 980 (players included), the number of people present in the Sapiac basin this weekend. The club explains that “a fair sharing of places will be made between subscribers, supporters associations and partners”.

Bracelets, and a list of names

Of the 980 seats, 400 bracelets will thus be allocated to the two supporter associations. The leaders of these associations will then determine which members can access the Stadium. The choice will necessarily be difficult, and we do not really know on what criteria it will be made. The club specifies that subscribers who have not been contacted for the match against Provence Rugby will be contacted for the next match against the Stade Montois (weekend of April 3) “which, as things stand, should take place under the same conditions. “

The USM insists that “access to the stadium can only be done on the one and only condition of having the bracelet distributed by the Club and the presence of its name on the list drawn up by the Club services “.

This match, counting for the 6th day of Pro D2, was to take place in October but had been postponed due to an epidemic of staph affecting the Montalbanese workforce.

As for the other late match, between Carcassonne and Valence-Romans, it will be played behind closed doors on Saturday at Albert-Domec. It was scheduled for January 24 for the 18th day, and had been postponed due to flooding in the region
