Coronavirus, the mayor of Montignoso on Facebook: “I am one of the new positive cases”

Montignoso (Massa Carrara), 19 March 2020 – “I don’t want to hide anything from you, one of the new positive cases of today’s coronavirus is me”. The mayor of Montignoso, Gianni Lorenzetti, announced it to his fellow citizens with a long video on Facebook in which he takes stock of the situation on the coronavirus in its municipality. And at the beginning of the video comes the surprise announcement.

The mayor explains that he is well and at work. “We must also think about when this problem will be over, I think it will not take long but we must grit our teeth, stay united and adopt all the good practices that can save us”, says Lorenzetti.

And then he makes an appeal: “I see too many fires lit during the day, I remind you that it is forbidden and that there are specific times to do it. Why do I remember it? Because right now those who have breathing problems should be protected”.

The mayor confirms that he has prepared the closure of the Municipality from today until Monday for the sanitization of all environments. “On Monday – says Lorenzetti – the offices will return open with the previous methods of timetables and security measures”. Finally he appeals to the citizens: «I know that the fact that the mayor got sick has aroused a bit of apprehension in almost all the citizens, who are calling the ASL to find out if they should quarantine themselves. I repeat that since last Monday I have no longer had contact with anyone and that I have communicated to the Local Health Authority the people with whom I had been in contact in the previous weeks, and they are not many, since for a month all the meetings have been exclusively for emergency reasons ” .
