Algeria, resumption of internal flights on 6 December
The Algerian authorities announced the resumption on 6 December of internal air connections, suspended from 17 March as part of the anti-coronavirus measures. The recovery will affect all flights to and from the wilaya (prefectures) in the south of the country and, initially, 50% of the flights serving the north of Algeria, according to a statement from the Algiers Ministry of Transport. The borders of Algeria have been closed since mid-March, except for special repatriation flights. According to some local media, commercial flights to and from France are expected to resume on 27 December. Algeria, one of the African countries most affected by the pandemic, has recorded a recovery in daily cases for several weeks. Over 82,200 infections have been identified in Algeria since last February, with more than 2,400 deaths, according to the latest data from the Algiers Ministry of Health.
